Publication Ethics and Policies
Indonesian Journal of Artificial Intelligence Research (IJAIR) is committed to upholding the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. All parties involved in the publication process—editors, reviewers, authors, and the publisher—are expected to adhere to the ethical guidelines set forth by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).
Duties of Authors
-
Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure that their work is original, and properly cite or quote all sources used. Plagiarism in any form is unethical and unacceptable.
-
Multiple Submissions: Manuscripts must not be submitted to more than one journal at the same time.
-
Acknowledgment of Sources: Proper acknowledgment of others' work must always be given.
-
Authorship: All listed authors must have significantly contributed to the research and approved the final version of the paper.
-
Conflict of Interest: Authors must disclose any financial or other conflicts of interest that may influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript.
Duties of Editors
-
Fair Evaluation: Editors evaluate manuscripts solely on academic merit and relevance, without regard to race, gender, ethnicity, nationality, or institutional affiliation.
-
Confidentiality: Editors and editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than those involved in the review process.
-
Conflicts of Interest: Editors must recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where there is a conflict of interest.
Duties of Reviewers
-
Confidentiality: All review materials must be treated as confidential documents.
-
Objectivity: Reviews must be conducted objectively, and personal criticism of the author is inappropriate.
-
Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers must point out relevant published work that is not cited.
-
Disclosure of Conflicts: Reviewers must not review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest.
Use of AI Tools in Writing and Reviewing
-
Authors who use AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT) in the preparation of their manuscripts must declare this use in the Acknowledgment section, describing its purpose (e.g., language editing, summarization).
-
AI tools must not be listed as authors.
-
Reviewers may use AI tools to assist in language checking or structural assessment, but must not rely on them for making acceptance/rejection decisions.
Misconduct Handling Policy
-
In cases of suspected ethical misconduct, IJAI follows COPE’s flowcharts and guidelines.
-
Action may include retraction, correction, or expression of concern depending on the case.
Plagiarism Policy
-
IJAI uses plagiarism detection tools (e.g., Turnitin or iThenticate).
-
Manuscripts with similarity index exceeding 25% (excluding references) will be returned or rejected.
